We wish to alert all customers and suppliers to a fraudulent email scam currently targeting businesses. The scam involves an individual impersonating a procurement representative and attempting to place bulk orders under false pretences.
The fraudulent communication originates from various fraudulent email addresses, such as [email protected], with the sender identifying themselves as a “Richard Khumalo” from a “Supply Chain Division.” The email typically requests quotations for large quantities of products, such as safety boots, and includes details such as a VAT number, company registration number, contact number, and a physical address to create the appearance of legitimacy.
This communication is not legitimate and does not originate from our business and believe it to form part of a procurement fraud and phishing scheme. The use of a domain that closely resembles that of a known company, combined with urgent and formal language, is intended to mislead recipients into processing orders or sharing sensitive information.
Recipients are strongly advised not to respond to this email, not to process any orders arising from it, and not to disclose any company, financial, or personal information. All procurement-related requests should be independently verified through official and trusted communication channels with Agrimark representatives before any action is taken.
If you receive similar suspicious correspondence, it should be reported immediately to your internal compliance or IT department, or to the appropriate fraud prevention authorities. Remaining vigilant and verifying all requests is essential in preventing potential financial loss or data compromise.
Should you have any queries regarding this, please contact [email protected].
