Product Information
Washingtonia robusta, commonly known as the Mexican Fan Palm, is a tall, fast-growing palm tree native to northwestern Mexico. It is widely cultivated for its dramatic height and tropical silhouette, often lining streets and parks in warm, subtropical climates.
Height: Typically grows between 15 to 25 metres, though some specimens reach 30 metres or more.
Growth Rate: One of the fastest-growing palms, capable of growing up to 0.9 to 1 metre per year under ideal conditions.
Trunk: Features a slender, solitary trunk (about 30 cm in diameter) that is brownish-grey and often has a swollen base.
Foliage: Large, bright green, fan-shaped leaves (palmate) that can be 1 to 1.5 metres long. The petioles (leaf stalks) are armed with sharp, reddish-brown thorns.
Sunlight: Requires full sun (at least 6–8 hours daily) for optimal growth.
Soil: Prefers well-drained soil; it is highly adaptable and can tolerate sand or poor soils but is susceptible to root rot in waterlogged conditions.
Watering: Drought-tolerant once established, but grows much faster with regular moisture.
