Product Description
HOSTA WHITE FEATHER
Product Information
The Hosta 'White Feather' is a unique perennial plant prized for its striking foliage which emerges pure white in spring before developing green streaks later in the season. It requires full to partial shade and moist, well-drained soil.
Foliage: Leaves emerge pure white in spring and gradually change to a mottled, streaked light green/cream color as they mature due to a lack of chlorophyll.
Flowers: Produces delicate spikes of lavender-purple flowers that rise above the foliage in mid-to-late summer.
Size: Typically grows to be about 12-14 inches tall (30-35 cm) with a spread of around 18-24 inches (45-60 cm).
Light Requirements: Thrives in full to partial shade. Direct sun can easily scorch the pale foliage.
Soil: Prefers rich, evenly moist, well-drained soil. It can tolerate a wide range of soil types including clay, loam, and sandy soil.
Pests: The thin leaves are particularly vulnerable to slugs and snails, so protection is essential.
Toxicity: Like all hostas, it is toxic to dogs, cats, and horses if ingested.
