Uniforms for Porterville High School
Agrimark

empowerment and
a vital
pillar in its
strategy for
sustainable community upliftment. As

areas, it
is dedicated
to initiatives that
create meaningful,
lasting impact for
learners and
their families.
In line with this strategic focus, Agrimark Porterville recently donated school uniforms valued at R83,000 to Porterville High School. By redistributing unsold inventory, the business optimised its store operations while directly addressing a pressing community need: providing new school uniforms to learners from families facing financial challenges.
Barend Sulvester, Senior Manager: Sustainability at Agrimark, explains how this initiative fits into the wider corporate social responsibility strategy: “Our approach to community upliftment is holistic. We aim to create sustainable value by supporting education, health, food security, and livelihoods – areas that empower people in the long term. This donation is a practical step that ensures no learner is held back by a lack of resources, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive growth.”

Arno Abeln, Managing Director: Agrimark Operations, highlights the role of responsible business practices in the strategy: “We believe that true success is measured by how we leave communities better off because of our existence. For us, doing good business also means doing good for others. By repurposing surplus stock to support schools, we’re investing in something far greater – young minds and their future.”
The school’s principal, Cobus Louw, expressed gratitude on behalf of Porterville High School and its learners.
“This generous donation provides more than just uniforms – it brings confidence and a sense of belonging to our students. Agrimark showed us that the business stands behind education; it’s not just about profits, it’s about heart, care, and believing in children’s potential.”
