Instead of buying your partner something , why not make something that will last – and be a lovely keepsake for your home. This frame is fairly easy to make, if you have the right equipment and follow the steps as outlined below. We’ve included simple instructions to make it super easy for you. The steps are for two frames, so you have the option to make a set and place two similar photos in. For the photos, you can have two A3 photos printed on quality paper, or have them printed onto thin A3 canvas.

Frame:

For both frames, you will need:

  • 2x 13x25x2400mm
  • A3 prints
  • 13mm Staples
  • 20mm Staples
  • Staple gun
  • 530mm eco rope

Handsaw

  • Paint, varnish or stain to finish
  • 120 grit Sandpaper
  • Square
  • Directions:

Steps

1. Cut your wood into 310mm strips using a handsaw (or bandsaw), as the the wood is very thing and can easily break if a jigsaw, mitre saw or circular saw is used. (Fig 1)

2. Sand and then paint, stain or varnish your wood. (Fig 2)

3. Place your wood on a flat surface, adding your canvas and rope.

4. Using the 13mm staple, staple it together.

5. Add the 2nd strip and staple together using the 20mm staples.

6. Take the remaining two strips and add to the bottom of your canvas, stapling it together with 20mm staples.

7. Repeat for the second frame.
