You will need:

  • Pantyhose
  • Rope
  • Leftover washers
  • Elastic bands
  • Mixing bucket
  • Small spade for mixing
  • Small container to hold the mould
  • Concrete mix
  • Cable ties
  • Stone seal or acrylic paint

DIRECTIONS:

  1.  Tie washers onto one end of your rope.
  2.  Tie off one end of the pantyhose, and using a small bucket, stretch it over the edges, using an elastic band to secure if it slides off.
  3.  Mix your concrete according to instructions to a peanut butter consistency, mixing well and ensuring there are no dry spots.
  4. Add half the concrete mix into your pantyhose, and add your rope with the washers into the concrete.
  5. Add the rest of your concrete.
  6. Close up and tie off your pantyhose with a cable tie.
  7. Take the whole thing out of the bucket and lay it flat.
  8. Using the elastic bands, add them one at a time, to create the pumpkin shape.
  9. Cover with plastic and allow to dry for at least 48 hours, keeping moist by giving a light spray every few hours for the first day.
  10. Once dry, cut the cable tie and gently remove the pantyhose – you can now seal or paint it as you wish.

Tip: To create a planter, follow the same steps, but replace the rope with a tin or flower pot.
